Selected from a crop of tulip tree understock, Liriodendron tulipifera ‘Little Volunteer’ may well become the ‘Little Gem’ magnolia of the Liriodendron world.
Grower-friendly in its ease of maintaining a central leader, ‘Little Volunteer’ can achieve 3″ caliper in 3 years from transplanted 3′-5′ liners. Excellent as a street tree or for the residential landscape. Finally, a tulip poplar sized for the landscape.
